Call To Order

The Charlevoix Township Board Meeting was called to order by Supervisor Center with Board Members Stewart, Williams, Ulrich and Witherspoon present.

The Minutes of the October 11, 2021 meeting were accepted.

Financial Report

The financial report was given by Treasurer Williams. As of the end of October, the general fund was $219,787.10, the Water Fund was at $66,848.81, the Fire Department Fund was at $156, 944.19, with the Fire Department Bond $154,335.68, and Trust and Agency was at $2,720.97. The budget was reviewed and discussed.


Water Department:

Two employees that were in quarantine due to possible covid exposure, all CDC recommendations were followed. Hydrant flushing was completed on both sides of the Township. First round of hydroflow testing was completed with hydrant flushing. The State of Michigan may now be requiring asbestos sampling. A couple upcoming projects: blowing out a few water mains and a valve replacement on well one.

Fire Department/EMS Update:

Dan Thorp gave an overview of the fire department. Had twenty-one calls last month with calls being down. Discussed the Lake Charlevoix EMS status. They have hired a new HR person. Now have a certification number.

Parks and Recreation:

None at this time.

Zoning Administrator:

Zoning Administrator’s report was reviewed and discussed.

Public Comment: Steve Villorot was present, following up on a letter he sent about the possibility of changing the speed limit on Mercer to 25 mph. It was suggested that he talk to the State Police.

Discussed grant for recreation for recreation projects.

Update from Supervisor:



Had one FOIA request.

Williams made the Motion with Stewart supporting to pay the bills. All in favor. Motion carries unanimously. (M-62-21)

Taxes going out for the end of the month and working on the newsletter. Tim Collins is now working with Dan Riley and Casey Riley is moving to EMS.
